ON-SITE PRESENTATIONS

An Immunization Education Program (IEP) is an interactive, CME/CEU, free update for your practice, health professional student group, or conference. The program may be at your site or given regionally for a group of practices. Content can be shaped to meet host needs. The programs are only offered in Pennsylvania. IEP staff are happy to discuss how to start a similar program in your state.

The PA IEP adapted the California Department of Health's "Immunizaiton Techniques: safe, effective, caring" program for Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. This training program is a 4-hour, hands-on session for no more than 15 participants per session. Participants watch a videotape, see slides highlighting key points, and then move through three "skill stations" practicing different aspects of drawing up and mixing vaccine, injecting vaccine safely and in a caring manner, comfort measures, documentation, and storage and handling. For more information about how you might use this curriculum, contact Amy Wishner, MSN, RN: awishner@paaap.org.
